Vanderbilt's $11 million golf facility renovation solidifies its commitment to building champions

October 28, 2024

The Vanderbilt Golf House at Vanderbilt Legends Club has undergone a major transformation, thanks to an impressive $11 million renovation.

The facility serves as the training ground for both the men's and women's college golf teams at Vanderbilt University, and with these upgrades, it solidifies the program's commitment to nurturing future SEC and NCAA champions.

The renovation, which expands the space by nearly two-thirds, includes a new lobby, hall of fame, locker rooms, fitness area, offices, and outdoor terraces. Upgrades to the Cleo and Lewis Conner, Sr. Short Game Practice Facility feature enhanced driving range tee boxes, chipping areas, and putting greens designed to reflect actual course conditions better.

"From day one, we have been committed to having the best golf program in the country, and this is another step in that pursuit," said men's golf coach Scott Limbaugh. "Our student-athletes already have the opportunity to earn a coveted degree from a world-class university in an amazing city, compete in the best conference in collegiate golf and have two first-class home courses at Vanderbilt Legends Club.

"Now, with this commitment, they will have unmatched facilities that help them continue to pursue excellence and also strengthen our team culture."

As colleges aim to attract top talent—especially players looking to maximize their NIL opportunities—best-in-class facilities will only enhance their appeal. Add in a program that has produced several tour pros and is currently home to two of the world's top 10 players, Gordon Sargent (fifth on the Golf NIL Top 10) and Jackson Van Paris (on the Golf NIL Watch List), and Vanderbilt is making a solid case.

The renovation began in 2023 and was made possible through generous donations from alums, including notables Brandt Snedeker, Toby Wilt, Lew Conner, and their families, who helped kickstart fundraising for the project.
